If you want to meet a billionaire, now’s your chance. All you need is more than a million bucks.
The Glide Foundation, a non-profit organization, is auctioning off the opportunity to have a private lunch with Warren Buffett.
If you (and seven of your friends) want to dine with one of the world’s greatest investors at the high-end steakhouse Smith & Wollensky in Manhattan, be prepared to pay up.
The price of the lunch has varied over the past 15 years. In 2001, lunch was a bargain at US$18,000 compared to nearly US$3.5 million in 2012.
As of about 10 p.m. EDT on Thursday, there are 79 bids on eBay with the last bid coming in at US$1,101,300. That works out to about US$138,000 for each friend, but the price could rise as the auction doesn’t end for another 24 hours.
While it’s highly unlikely Buffett will offer any stock tips, the chance to meet the Oracle of Omaha is priceless.
