The first month of the year was a good one in terms of dividend income.

I made $875.04 in dividends and distributions in January. Here’s where those earnings came from:

Category Dividend/distribution income
Bond ETFs $104.39
Canadian stocks $414.79
Canadian REITs $157.19
U.S. REITs $75.95
U.S. stocks $122.72
Total $875.04

If I can average that amount on a monthly basis, I’ll be able to earn $10,000 this year. However, I’ve made some changes to my portfolio by adding more growth stocks so the amount of passive income may shrink. Also, one of the REITs I own is in the process of being bought so I’ll need to find a replacement, which might not have as high of a yield.
