Aeroplan members will soon be able to earn miles on most of their purchases.

Starting April 24, members who visit through will be able to earn at least one mile for every $1 spent.

Aeroplan status members will earn even more. Members with silver and black status will earn up to two times the miles while members with diamond status receive up to three times the miles per transaction. Members who use an Aeroplan credit card will be able to earn miles twice.

Investors were pleased with the news. Shares of Aimia, Aeroplan’s parent company, shot up 25% to close at $2.

It’s been a tough 12 months for Aeroplan. Last week, Esso announced it would drop Aeroplan as a partner in favour of PC Optimum. And last year, Air Canada announced it would end its partnership with Aeroplan in 2020 because the airline plans to start its own loyalty program.
